AC Milan Call Off Marcus Rashford Move

AC Milan have called off their move for out-of-favour Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, MySportDab reports.

The Serie A giants have been on the trail of the 27-year-old to bolster their attack for the second half of the Serie A campaign.

We reported earlier that Rashford’s brother and agent Dwaine Maynard traveled to Italy to hold talks with the Serie A club.

He also met with Juventus to broker a deal for the exit-bound Man United star.

Despite rival interest by Juventus, AC Milan was understood to have been in the pole to sign Rashford with the player open to joining the club.

Now, according to Italian football journalist DiMarzio, Rashford’s potential move to AC Milan has been thwarted.

The Serie A side have reportedly turned interest away from Rashford to his English compatriot and Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.

While the reasons for the shock u-turn has yet to be unravelled, it is believed Rashford’s jumbo paycheck with Manchester United must have been a stumbling block.

The English forward is one of the highest-paid Manchester United players with a weekly wage of £300,000.

AC Milan wanted a loan deal with United but on the condition of having the Old Trafford club foot half of the player’s wages.

While United’s position on sharing the wage burden in the instance of a loan deal is unclear, it is believed this must have been at the heart of Milan’s decision to call off the move.

Conversely, the club is now set to focus on a financially soft target in Walker, who has reportedly agreed to peck down his wages to join the Serie A side.

Rashford is still linked to other bigger clubs in Europe. La Liga and European giants Barcelona are among the clubs interested in the forward and are also open to a loan deal for the player this January.
