Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal have closed in on a move for Liverpool’s goal poacher Mo Salah, MySportDab reports.
Salah is yet to renew his Liverpool contract with barely six months left. He has recently sounded out his frustration with the lack of progress in contract renewal talks, adding that this season may be his last with the club.
Meanwhile, he has been strongly linked with a move to Saudi Arabia with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal leading the race to sign him in the summer as a free agent.
Now, according to reports from Saudi outlet, Khaled Qinan, Al-Hilal have reached a preliminary agreement with Salah and his Liverpool teammate Virgil van Dijk to sign the duo in the summer when their Liverpool contracts expire.
The move to secure the services of the Egyptian forward is particularly linked to the imminent departure of Neymar from the Saudi champions.
The Blue Waves are expected to part ways with Neymar. Head coach Jorge Jesus is reportedly not keen on registering the Brazilian for the second half of the Saudi Pro League season due to his drop-off hence Salah is considered a perfect stand-in for the winger.
The report adds the club are ready to make the Egyptian forward the joint-highest-paid player in the Saudi Pro League with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Salah has been integral to the Liverpool squad but is poised to call an end to his eight-year stint at the Merseyside outfit with no new contract in place.
However, it is understood talks are ongoing but it appears the player is more likely to leave than stay with Liverpool fast running out of time to agree on a new deal.
