Al-Nassr have signed Colombian attacking sensation Jhon Duran from Aston Villa, MySportDab reports.
According to a report shared by Fabrizio Romano, Jhon Duran is set to join the Saudi club who have agreed club terms with Aston Villa for a fee in the region of €77million.
Prior to talks with the Aston-based outfit, Jhon Duran, who had struggled for game time in the Unai Emery-led squad despite his standout performances, was reportedly open to leaving the club.
He had agreed personal terms on a long-term contract and was awaiting Aston Villa to finally sanction the move.
Considered as key to the Unai Emery-led project at Villa despite his limited game time, the club weren’t initially open to his transfer exit this January.
However, the will to retain him amidst interest from multiple suitors was finally broken with a huge €77million offer on the table from Al-Nassr.
Details of the player’s contract with the Saudi side have yet to be revealed but it is understood he has agreed to a long-term contract with the club and is ready for a new chapter in the burgeoning Saudi League.
Notably, his signing was intertwined with the ill-fated transfer saga involving Al-Nassr and Nigerian and Bayer Leverkusen forward Victor Boniface.
Close sources reveal the Saudi contingents first agreed both club and personal terms for Boniface’s move before deciding to explore another alternative in Jhon Duran.
Duran has made 55 Premier League appearances for Aston Villa, scoring 12 goals, and will hope to continue on his top-level performances as he takes his career eastwards to the Saudi Pro League.
