Al-Nassr have signed Nigeria Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface with a crazy deal that has gotten Nigeria football fans talking, MySportDab reports
We reported earlier Al-Nassr contingents were in Germany for talks with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Boniface as a replacement for Brazilian striker Anderson Talisca who left the club for Fenerbache recently.
Currently 24 and yet to hit the prime of his career, there were doubts whether the footballer will agree to join the Saudi club.
However, close sources revealed he had gave a nod to the move from the start before the Saudi contingents landed in Germany for talks with Bayer Leverkusen.
Now, according to Ben Jacobs of Plettigoal, Al-Nassr have reached agreement with Bayer Leverkusen and have equally settled personal terms to sign Boniface.
The report also adds that Bayer Leverkusen will pocket €60million as transfer fee while Boniface has been offered a whooping €15million per year deal.
This means the former Bodo Glimt and Union Saint-Gilloise forward will become the highest-paid Nigerian footballer, overtaking Victor Osimhen, who currently earns €6million per year with Galatasaray in the Turkish elite division.
Another clause to the deal, as revealed by close sources, state that Boniface cannot return back to Europe.
The deal has got Nigeria football fans talking. While others have lauded the move as a significant financial gain on the player’s side, others consider the move a bait to end the player’s prime career in Europe.
Victor Boniface hit the peaks of his career on his Bayer Leverkusen debut last season, scoring 14 Bundesliga goals with 8 assists to help the team win their first German championship.
He will hope to continue on elite-level performance as he prepares for a new chapter with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
