BREAKING! Arsenal Wins Appeal Against Lewis-Skelly Red Card, FA Cancel Three-match Ban!

Arsenal have won their appeal against a controversial red card issued to Lewis-Skelly during the club’s Premier League clash against Wolves at the Molineux, MySportDab reports.

The fast-rising Arsenal youngster, Lewis-Skelly, was issued marching orders by the center-referee Michael Olivier for catching Matt Doherty just above the ankle to break the hosts’ counter-attack in the 43rd minute.

The decision was controversial as Skelly appeared to have unintentionally brought down the opponent.

However, after VAR review, the decision was upheld with Arsenal down to 10 men.

Speaking after the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed his disappointment with the decision and the club later appealed to the FA for a review.

Now, according to a report shared by Fabrizio Romano, the FA have upheld Arsenal’s appeal and have overturned the red card decision.

This means Lewis-Skelly’s three-match ban has been canceled with the player now available for Arsenal’s next fixture against Manchester City and other games.

The FA’s decision to overturn Michael Olivier’s decision further affirmed the objections of Arsenal and other football fans who considered the decision wrong.

Meanwhile, it is not the first time Arsenal have been at the receiving end of controversial red card decisions this season.

Declan Rice picked up the club’s first red card this season after delaying play – a decision that was widely contested by fans and pundits.

Leandro Trossard also saw a controversial red card against Manchester City earlier in the campaign.

However, Arsenal refuse to appeal the two red cards but decided to do so in Lewis-Skelly’s case which was screaming of unfairness from all angles.
