Barcelona have begun moves to renegotiate new contract terms with manager Hansi Flick, MySportDab reports.
The former Bayern Munich boss and Champions League winner got Barcelona to a flying start in the season, earning reviews from the club’s board and the fans as well.
His most impressive performance has been against Barcelona’s arch-domestic rivals Real Madrid. In the La Liga and Spanish Super Cup, Flick led the Catalan giants to commanding victories to win the Supercopa de Espana and keep the team in the La Liga title race.
However, the team has fallen off recently under his watch. They have conceded in all their last nine matches and are winless in the last four.
However, according to Spanish outlets, Flick still retains the confidence of the board and is considered key to the club’s project hence talks have begun for his contract to be renewed.
The renewal terms is not to extend his stay at the club but to renegotiate the terms of engagement. Due to the club’s financial crises, Flick accepted to take a pay cut to join as manager.
Recently, Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed the club has weathered through all its financial troubles and are ready to operate normally just like other big clubs in La Liga.
Due to the improvement, they are now ready to offer Flick new wage terms, bringing it to par with what elite managers in Europe take home.
The German tactician penned down a two-year contract with the club and is expected continue with the club till the end of the 2025-26 season.
