Arda Guler shoved his Real Madrid woes to net a brace as Los Blancos glided to triumph against Deportivo Minera at the Estadio Municipal Cartagonova in Copa Del Rey round 32, MySportDab reports.
The LaLiga and European champions went into the game as clear favourites facing the Murcia-based outfit who are playing in the Segunda Federacion – the fourth division of the Spanish football system.
As expected, it was a rout. Los Blancos quickly eased into the lead in the 4th after Federico Valverde fired a rocket from an incredibly tight corner into the net following a callous defending by the home side.
It took the away side eight minutes later to double the lead, thanks to another brilliant goal by Eduardo Camavinga.
Two minutes before the half-hour, Arda Guler registered his name on the scoresheet for Real Madrid’s third goal.
Latching on an assist by Valverde, the Turkish sensation managed a few touches inside the box before unleashing a fiery left-footed shot on goal.
The Minera goalkeeper was well-placed to save the ball but he was wrong-footed after the strike deflected off one of his teammates and spiraled into the net.
The goal saw Los Blancos went into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
The rout continued in the second half with the team still dominating proceedings and pushing for more goals.
10 minutes into the second half, Luka Modric made it 4-0 for Galacticos. After perfectly combining well with Brahima Diaz, he beat the hosts’ goalkeeper with a beautiful and calm finish into the bottom corner of the far post.
Just at the stroke of regulation time, Arda Guler completed the rout for the rampaging Ancelotti-led boys in the 88th minute, to nail home his brace.
Latching on an assist from Garcia, he easily tapped in at the back post from six yards to make it 5-0.
The win has seen the team qualify for the round of 16 of the competition, thanks to another stellar showing at Cartagena.
