The match began unfavorably for United, with Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh opening the scoring in the 5th minute.

United found an opportunity to equalize in the 23rd minute when Carlos Baleba fouled Joshua Zirkzee, leading to a penalty.

Bruno Fernandes successfully converted from the spot, bringing the score to 1-1 as they both carried on pushing.

Despite United’s efforts, Brighton regained the lead in the 60th minute through Kaoru Mitoma who was exceptional with his finish.

The situation worsened for United in the 76th minute when goalkeeper Andre Onana mishandled a cross, allowing Georginio Rutter to capitalize and extend Brighton’s lead to 3-1.

This defeat marked United’s tenth league loss of the season which exposed the ongoing defensive issues and inconsistency.
