Kylian Mbappe starred as Real Madrid edged out Real Valladolid to extend the lead at the top of the La Liga table, MySportDab reports.
Los Blancos went into the game a point clear of second-placed Atletico Madrid who dropped points for the second consecutive match with a 1-1 draw against Villarreal in the earlier fixture.
As expected, the 2023-24 champions started the game strongly and were set to cruise to victory.
Exactly at the half-hour, Mbappe opened the scoring for the La Liga title hopefuls, scoring a screamer from teammate Jude Bellingham’s assist.
After conceding, Real Valladolid attempted to charge their way back to proceedings but were clawed down by the more tactically savvy opponents.
Jude Bellingham picked up a yellow at the stroke of the first half as proceedings got more intense but Mbappe’s goal was enough to secure a narrow first-half lead for the visitors.
In the second half, the hosts put up a more stronger display from the start but pegging the star-studded and more dominant visitors to a draw was rather unlikely.
Despite slightly losing ground at the start, Los Blancos retained their attacking threats and were looking set to double the lead each time they charge forward.
Three minutes before the hour-mark, Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net again, thanks to an assist by Rodrygo.
The goal saw the team raced past regulation with a 2-0 lead but Kylian Mbappe was not done with his showstopping performance.
In the first minute of stoppage-time, he scored from the spot to cap a stellar outing and secure his first La Liga hat-trick.
Mbappe’s terrific display didn’t only secure all three points for Los Blancos but saw the team extend the lead at the top of the La Liga table to 4 points.
