Jokic and Giannis lead NBA All-Star Voting as fan returns roll in

Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo remain atop their respective conferences in the latest NBA All-Star voting returns, the league announced Thursday, MySportDab Reports.

Milwaukee Bucks forward Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP and this season’s league-leading scorer, leads the Eastern Conference frontcourt with 2,721,339 votes. The Denver Nuggets’ Jokic, a three-time MVP, has been the top Western Conference frontcourt vote getter with 2,277,723.

The fan vote is worth 50% of the All-Star starter selection, with the rest of the starters chosen by current NBA players and a media panel. The rosters of starters will be announced on January 23, ahead of the reimagined All-Star Game February 16 in San Francisco.

For the 2025 All-Star Game, the NBA replaced the usual East vs. West matchup with a new four-team tournament format. Their teams will be selected by Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith, along with the winners of the Rising Stars Challenge, who will be coached by WNBA legend Candace Parker.

The race in the backcourt sees Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander pacing Western Conference guards with 1,811,050 votes. Out west, Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball paces East guards with 1,490,227.

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum is second in the East frontcourt voting with 2,224,086, with the New York Knicks’ Karl-Anthony Towns right behind at 1,872,228. Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant is second to Jokic out west at 1,983,680, with Lakers’ LeBron James third at 1,981,529.

Victor Wembanyama comes in fourth in the West frontcourt with 1,630,948, ahead of Anthony Davis, who got 1,528,262. Meanwhile, Stephen Curry moved past Luka Doncic for second among West guards at 1,369,365 to 1,344,205.

With just days remaining in the voting, competition for the starting spots remains heated.
