Julian Nagelsmann has penned down a new contract with the German national team to continue as manager after the 2026 World Cup, MySportDab reports.

The former Bayern Munich boss came under intense scrutiny on the role after Germany crashed out in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Euros, losing to eventual winners Spain.

His initial contract was due to expire after the 2026 World Cup in the USA but pressure tanked up on him following the Euro deadlock.

However, he has now passed the test and secure his role with the team, putting pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

The new deal will see him continue in the reins as the Die Mannschaft boss until the 2028 Euros. Nagelsmann recorded an impressive start to his reign as the team’s manager.

He began a statement back-to-back victories over France to affirm the team’s return to form after a dragging run of poor results.

So far, he has taken charge of 19 matches, winning 11, and drawing 5. The new deal will see him settle and consolidate on his gains so far with the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Euros in sight.

Reacting to the deal, he said;

“When I joined the DFB in September 2023, I couldn’t have imagined that I would be coach of the national team beyond the European Championship.

“Our big goal was to win the tournament. But I couldn’t have imagined what the national team means to the people of Germany. How many hearts it touches and moves.”

Germany has been drawn against Italy in the 2025 UEFA Nations League Quarterfinal scheduled for March 20 with the veteran tactician ready to make a statement with nothing less from victory against the Italians.
