La Liga clubs have drawn the battle line against La Liga over Dani Olmo’s registration saga, MySportDab reports.
Barcelona defaulted on the set deadline – December 31, 2024 – to register Dani Olmo and Pau Victor and were granted a waiver by La Liga to settle their financial issues and have the two players enlisted for the second half of the season.
The Spanish top flight initially granted the Catalan giants a two-day extension till January 2, 2025, to sort out the issue before another report emerged they have extended it to three days till January 3, 2025.
Now according to Spanish outlet, sport, La Liga clubs are preparing to sue La Liga if they end up registering Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.
The irate clubs claim registration of the two players after the deadline had elapsed would amount to a breach of trust and would set a detestable precedent for the league.
According to them, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor’s registration should have been closed after the deadline expired and not extended to preserve the integrity of the league and its rules.
While the registration saga drags, it is understood the player has been delisted from Barcelona squad for the second half of the season and cannot play for the club to that effect.
However, Barcelona can still leverage the deadline extension to still register the player. Sources close to the club revealed they have met all financial requirements and are likely to successfully register the player before the January 3, 2025 deadline elapsed.
However, La Liga are now set for a tug-of-war with other clubs if they finally register the player.
