Liverpool have targeted La Liga’s top-rated forward to replace their main man Mo Salah in the summer, MySportDab reports.
Salah has yet to renew his Liverpool contract with barely six months left on his deal.
He is free to enter into pre-contract talks with interested clubs but MySportDab understands he will not leave this January and is poised to continue with the Reds till the end of the season when his contract expires.
Despite the exit nuances, talks for a new deal has been ongoing but there has been no breakthrough with Salah recently voicing out his frustration with the contract renewal deadlock.
According to the Egyptian forward, this season might be his last with the club as no progress has been recorded on the negotiation table.
Now, according to Spanish outlet El-Nacional, Liverpool are bracing for Salah’s exit with a top La Liga forward Takefusa Kubo of Real Sociedad emerging as their top target.
The Japan international is reportedly expected to replace the Egyptian forward who is increasingly linked to a transfer exit from Anfield rather than staying.
Kubo has been a standout performer for Real Sociedad since joining the club from Real Madrid in the 2022-23 season.
He has scored 20 goals with 8 assists in 84 La Liga appearances with 4 scored in his 19 La Liga caps this season.
The Reds reportedly believe he could perfectly fit into the vacuum that could be created in the wake of Salah’s imminent exit from the club.
Salah is being linked to Saudi Arabia with Saudi Pro League champions Al-Hilal reportedly interested in signing the forward and making him one of the highest-paid players in Europe.
