Marcus Rashford will miss Manchester United’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at the weekend, MySportDab reports.
United will hope to reverse their four-match winless run when they take on the Reds at Anfield.
Speaking ahead of the match, Ruben Amorim confirmed Marcus Rashford will not be available for selection for the match.
In a quote shared by Fabrizio Romano, the Portuguese boss said the footballer is ill, hence the decision to drop him from the squad.
“Marcus is ill and is not training. I think he’s going to be out”.
“The situation is still the same, he’s like all the other players.” Amorim says.
Rashford has struggled for game time under Ruben Amorim. He has played only one of the club’s last four matches in a sudden downturn in his Old Trafford fortunes.
Recently, he granted a shock interview, reiterating his desire to leave the club amidst his woes and take up a new challenge.
He has been strongly linked with a possible January or summer exit from the club either on a permanent or loan deal.
Napoli are said to be nursing a substantial interest on signing him and are ready for a possible swap deal for the player involving on-loan forward Victor Osimhen.
It is understood United are open to his exit but the stumbling block to his possible departure will be his wages. The 27-year-old is among United’s highest-paid player with a weekly wage in excess of £300,000.
There are suggestions United may have to cover a part of his wages if a loan deal is to be processed. However, a swap deal with Napoli for Osimhen could also peck wage burden.
