Neymar has returned to Santos from Al-Hilal after what could be described as a disappointing spell with the Saudi Pro League champions, MySportDab reports.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Al-Hilal have terminated his contract and he will be due back in Brazil to have his medical and rejoin the boyhood club.
Neymar’s Al-Hilal exit was long envisaged following his niggling injury crisis since joining the club in 2023 from PSG.
He made only 3 Saudi Pro League appearances in his first season and two AFC Champions League appearances with a goal before being sidelined with a lengthy injury that saw him miss the rest of the campaign.
After recovering from the blow, he managed only 2 appearances in the ongoing 2025 AFC Champions League but was not registered for domestic league action.
Al-Hilal head coach insisted he is not fit to compete in the Saudi Pro League hence the decision not to register him for the campaign.
While obviously losing his bearing in the squad, Neymar was still hungry to play and return to his game. He was linked to a possible reunion with his former Barcelona teammates – Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez – at Inter Miami with the MLS club reportedly interested in signing him, per rumors.
However, Santos emerged as top favorites to sign the player, who was reportedly open to heading homewards as he nears the twilights of his career.
Neymar’s return to the boyhood club marked the end of his epic career journey which reached its peak at Barcelona before he joined PSG, and then moved to Saudi Arabia.
