Omar Marmoush Joins Manchester City for £63 Million

Omar Marmoush has joined Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the fee widely reported to be in excess of £63M (bonuses included). The 25-year-old winger has signed a contract with Pep Guardiola’s team that will run until June 2029, MySportDab Reports.

“It’s a day I will always remember,” Marmoush said in a statement. “Signing for Manchester City — one of the best teams in the world — is an amazing feeling. I am very pleased, my family are very proud and we are all very pleased to be here in Manchester.”

Marmoush was a key City target due to his versatility in the front line. He leaves Frankfurt after scoring 15 goals in the Bundesliga this season, one fewer than Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane.

Marmoush only made the move to Frankfurt from Wolfsburg on a free transfer 18 months back.

“I won’t also deny I want to win trophies. City have been the most successful club in England for a long, long time, so I know that I’m joining a winning environment and a winning culture. I want to learn from the staff and my teammates, and I want to become a valuable member of this winning team,” Marmoush said. “I am very much looking forward to getting started, meeting the other players and showing the Manchester City fans what I can do.”

Marmoush is City’s third signing as they reshape their squad in January, after defenders Vitor Reis from Palmeiras for £30 million ($36.67 million) and Abdukodir Khusanov from Lens for £34 million.

The additions make it more than £120 million that City have spent in January, as they look to reignite their season.

Now sitting fourth in the Premier League, where Guardiola’s team sits 12 points adrift of leaders Liverpool and in danger of missing out on a Champions League play-off place.

Marmoush is thought of as a tactical pick up and a chance to revamp their forward options.
