Real Madrid have doubled down on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move with a shock transfer demand, MySportDab reports.

The La Liga and European champions have been on the trail of the 26-year-old since March 2024 and are now pushing to realize the move.

We reported earlier that they have approached Liverpool for the player and are now set to contact the Merseyside club for the second time.

It is understood Liverpool have yet to budge on their no-sale decision on Arnold but The Times reports that the real test for the Reds’ resolve on Arnold transfer will come after Real Madrid’s imminent second offer.

Now, according to Relevo, Real Madrid have asked Trent Alexander-Arnold to reach a pre-contract agreement with the club this January so that he will not change his mind in the summer.

This is a major plot twist in the unfolding transfer saga with Real Madrid now looking to sign him on a free transfer in the summer despite the January move.

This means Liverpool are more likely to lose Arnold as a free agent instead of cashing in on the player this January.

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been hopeful that the 26-year-old will sign a new contract amidst interest from Real Madrid.

The Reds still have six months to persuade the right-back to agree a new deal but are now facing stiff competition from Real Madrid to keep the player.

Arnold have kept Reds’ fans in the dark as per his future. He has been coy on his remarks, maintaining his contract renewal progress is not a public affair but reports from Spanish outlets say he is close to joining Madrid.
