A shocking clause has been confirmed as details of Cristiano Ronaldo’s new contract with Al-Nassr emerge, MySportDab reports.
We reported earlier that Cristiano Ronaldo is poised to renew his contract with Al-Nassr by one more year to continue with the club till 2026.
Saudi outlets confirmed the decision to have the Portuguese footballing icon renew his deal with the Riyadh-based side is part of the larger plan to keep the influential footballer in Saudi football as he is considered key to the project of modernizing the game in the Gulf State.
As expected, the new contract offer has come with improved terms and other pecks of remuneration. As per the wages, Ronaldo is expected to earn as much as £3million every week.
The duration of the contract is for one year till 2026. Apart from the jumbo wage terms, another shocking term that has been added to the deal is the ‘ownership clause.’
According to Saudi outlets, Al-Nassr have agreed to cede 5% of the club’s ownership to Cristiano Ronaldo as part of the new deal.
This means the footballer will take active part in the executive and administrative roles at the club. This aligns with the footballer’s earlier wish of owning a football club instead of taking up a managerial role in the sport after retirement.
Also, he has been promised that the team will be reinforced with more signings to sharpen its competitive edge.
Ronaldo has been most the impressive performer for Al-Nassr and the Saudi Pro League since his groundbreaking move in 2022.
The new contract offer means he will be joining the Portugal national for the 2026 World Cup from the Saudi Pro League.
