Super Eagles star Gift Orban has completed a move to Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim from Olympique Lyon in a deal worth €9 million, with an additional €3 million in potential add-ons, according to MySportDab Reports.

The 22-year-old striker has signed a contract that runs until June 2029, becoming Hoffenheim’s third Nigerian player. He joins defender Kevin Akpoguma and former forward Chinedu Obasi, who played for the club from 2007 to 2012.

Hoffenheim’s Managing Director of Sports, Andreas Schicker, expressed enthusiasm over the signing: “In Gift Orban, we have found exactly the fast striker with good depth that we were looking for.

Gift has repeatedly proven his goal-scoring ability and joy of playing at his previous clubs. We are convinced he will bring greater variability to our attack with his skills.”

Orban enjoyed a stellar spell at KAA Gent, where he scored 32 goals in 52 competitive appearances between January 2023 and January 2024.

His impressive performances in the Jupiler Pro League and UEFA Europa Conference League established him as one of Europe’s most promising young talents.

At Hoffenheim, Orban will wear the number 14 shirt, previously vacated by Christoph Baumgartner in 2023.

The Nigerian forward’s arrival bolsters Hoffenheim’s attacking options as the club looks to climb out of the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.
