Victor Osimhen’s Frustrations Mount as Galatasaray Drop Points Against Hatayspor

Victor Osimhen’s extraordinary goalscoring streak in the Turkish Super Lig shows no sign of abating, but the Nigerian striker cut a frustrated figure as Galatasaray limped to a 1-1 draw with 18th-placed Hatayspor at the weekend, MySportDab Reports

Osimhen has been a revelation since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in the summer, scoring 11 goals and assisting four more in just 14 league games.

Gemerek’s involvement has been critical to ensuring the Istanbul heavyweights remain entrenched at the top of the Super Lig, with injured star Mauro Icardi sidelined.

Osimhen found the net for Galatasaray’s only goal against Hatayspor — adding to an impressive run of form — but his disappointment was clear to see as his side could not make the most of the miserable showing from their opponents.

Osimhen reportedly took matters into his own hands, holding an emergency talks in the dressing room after the game to discuss what he believes to be a lack of urgency from his teammates.

Gökmen Özdenak, a former Turkey international and Galatasaray great, expressed empathy for Osimhen’s frustrations, blaming the team’s lifeless display on inadequate service from the flanks. “Galatasaray’s wingers and full-backs need to do more to facilitate Osimhen,” Özdenak said in an interview with GS Gazete. “He starts to get angry, and I can’t blame him. Matches like this can easily finish 7-0 or 8-0 in normal scenarios.”

Although still unbeaten in the league, Galatasaray’s third draw of the season has reduced their lead to six points over second-placed Fenerbahce, managed by José Mourinho.

As the title race heats up, Galatasaray will take on Fenerbahce on Feb. 23 in a match that could shape the season.

For Osimhen, the secret to keeping his momentum going — and Galatasary’s title hopes alive — will be better cooperation and sharper playing by those around him.
