Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed update in the contract situation of Mohamed Salah, MySportDab reports.
Salah will run out of his Liverpool contract at the end of the season and a new deal has yet to be agreed.
Sources close to the club reveal the Reds are open to keeping the terrific winger on a new deal but it is yet unclear whether an offer has been submitted to that effect.
Salah recently expressed his frustration with the renewal process, confirming he has yet to received a new offer and is likely to leave the club at the end of the season than stay.
Now, addressing the contract situation, new manager Jurgen Klopp, has hinted that Liverpool want to keep Salah following his standout performances for the club.
“If Mo does really well, the more expensive he becomes!”.
“If he didn’t play so good, maybe we would have second thoughts about whether we want him to extend. Hopefully he will extend,” he said.
Slot’s statement shows Liverpool are ready for a new deal for Salah with the ball now on the player’s court to take a decision.
Notably, with just a few months left to the expiration of his current, there is an air of pessimism that Salah is likely to extend his deal and could leave at the end of the season.
He has been remarkable for the club, scoring 25 Premier League goals with 16 assists to top the rankings on both goals and assists this season.
Overall, he has hit 50 goal contributions for the Reds and is leading the park as Liverpool brace for their second Premier League title since 2019.
