Arsenal’s plan has been confirmed after Kai Havertz’s season-ending injury, MySportDab reports.
The former Chelsea star and Champions League winner picked up a hamstring issue while on the Gunners’ winter training camp.
He is expected to be out for the rest of the season – a development that has thrown the Mikel Arteta squad into disarray.
Arteta is known for his headless attacking setup, deploying midfielders on attacking roles with no proper striker.
Kai Havertz, who is an attacking midfielder, shouldered the goal-scoring brunt for the Gunners, playing more as central attacker.
With the German international now sidelined, Arsenal now face a grim prospect of managing limited attacking options.
Gabriel Jesus who had also been sidelined but is nearing return, is expected to step into the vacuum left by absence of Havertz.
The Gunners have also been linked with sundry measures like restructuring the team to make for the absence of the player with options like Raheem Sterling likely to be handed more game time.
Amidst speculations on the Gunners’ possible options, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Arsenal’s plan to mitigate the effect of losing Kai Havertz.
According to the transfer expert, the Gunners’ plan remains the same – to find solution to the German’s absence internally while preparing for bigger signings in the summer.
“Arsenal plan remain the same: find internal solutions and focus on big signing in the summer,” Fabrizio Romano says.
Kai Havertz is expected to undergo surgery before rehabilitation for recovery. He has nine goals plus three assists in 21 appearances for the team this season, including two in five EFL Cup appearances.
