Casemiro has acknowledged his frustration with limited playing time at Manchester United but remains determined to help the club through its travails and is intent on seeing his contract end in 2026, MySportDab Reports.
The 33-year-old midfielder is out of favor with new head coach Ruben Amorim, and he made only his second Premier League start in 12 games in United’s recent loss to Tottenham Hotspur.
Although initially being linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League, Casemiro is adamant that his priority lies with the club.
“I have to continue working, doing my job with respect and professionalism,” Casemiro told AS. “I definitely want to play more, of course. I don’t know a player who doesn’t want to play, help. But I respect my teammates, the coaching staff and most of all Manchester United, a club to which I owe a lot.”
The Brazilian, a five-time Champions League winner at Real Madrid, has not been able to reproduce the dominant force he used to be in midfield. Amorim has frequently disregarded him, citing worries over his physicality in the frenetic Premier League.
“Mate,” Amorim said in January, “sometimes it’s about a system fit, sometimes it’s about the player’s form. “Casemiro is intelligent, he knows the game, he understands the game. But the intensity in the Premier League is so important and sometimes we need more of the players with this energy.”
Casemiro remains committed to the club despite being benched. “I’ve a year and a half on my contract left and I want to see it out here in Manchester,” he said. “I’m safe here, and my family is safe, too. We have adapted, we speak English, and I’m thankful to the fans and the club. I’m happy at club level. Happy on the bench? Of course not. That’s another thing.”
It remains to be seen what role Casemiro might play under Amorim, but he is committed to USited and with his services having attracted interest away from European shores, he does not appear to be walking away.
