Chelsea have been eliminated from the 2024-25 FA Cup following a 2-1 loss to Brighton at the Falmer Stadium, MySportDab reports.

The Blues, reeling from underwhelming performances lately in the English top flight, hit the nadir of their poor run of form in the hands of the Fabian Hurzeler-led side on Saturday.

It was a cagey affair but the Blues started strongly, dominating proceedings and looking set to ace the fixture easily before the Seagulls bounce back to take control.

The dramatic start saw two goals hurled in fast within 12 minutes, seven minutes apart. Brighton conceded first after Verbruggen mistakenly poked the ball into his own net in the 5th minute but the hosts were ready to stage a comeback.

A fiery response saw Rutter score in the 12th minute to chalk off the deficit and level ties.

With the score tied 1-1 and much time left to play in the first 45, Chelsea attempted to retake the lead with a stronger performance but could not find the back of the net again.

The second half was spiced with drama from the start but the Seagulls proved a tough but to crack and stunned the visitors with their second goal three minutes before the hour mark.

Kaoru Mitoma scored a screamer to cap a resilient, strong, and virile showing by the Hurzeler-led boys.

After conceding, Chelsea attempted to stage a response and possibly drag proceedings to extra time but the Seagulls held firm and ran out with a 2-1 victory to knock the London contingents from the competition.

Chelsea have now conceded six goals in their last five matches, winning two drawing one, and losing two.
