Full Match Report

The match saw early dominance from Liverpool, with Dominik Szoboszlai opening the scoring in the 11th minute.

Luis Díaz delivered a precise cutback from the left flank, allowing Szoboszlai to slot the ball past Newcastle’s goalkeeper, Nick Pope.

Despite missing their key striker, Alexander Isak, due to a groin injury, Newcastle attempted to regroup and find an equalizer.

However, Liverpool’s defense remained resolute, effectively neutralizing Newcastle’s offensive efforts.

The Magpies’ best opportunity in the first half came from a set-piece, but they failed to capitalize.

In the second half, Liverpool continued to assert their control over the game and pressed for more goal.

In the 63rd minute, Mohamed Salah provided a well-timed assist to Alexis Mac Allister, who calmly finished to double Liverpool’s advantage.

This goal further dampened Newcastle’s hopes of mounting a comeback which they couldn’t make anything much.

As the match progressed, Liverpool manager Arne Slot made strategic substitutions, possibly with upcoming fixtures in mind.

Cody Gakpo found the net late in the game, but his goal was disallowed due to a foul on Nick Pope leaving things the same.

The Reds’ performance once again proved their status as strong title contenders in Slot’s debut season.

Newcastle’s defeat saw them slip to sixth place, trailing fourth-placed Manchester City by three points.

The match also set the stage for the upcoming Carabao Cup final between these two teams, adding an extra layer of intrigue to their next encounter.
