Galatasaray have issued an official statement on Jose Mourinho’s alleged racist remarks during a heated Super Lig clash against Fenerbache, MySportDab reports.

In a top-of-the-table league clash between the two titans in Turkish football, emotions swayed many as action got intense.

The high-point of controversies came a few minutes when Galatasaray players appealed for a penalty for a dive and were ignored hy the referee.

Commenting on the incident after the match, Jose Mourinho described Galatasaray bench as “jumping as monkeys” while trying to appeal for the penalty.

The comment has sparked racist row with Galatasaray fans blasting the former Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Roma boss for racism.

Now, Galatasaray appear to have taken matters further. In an official statement issued by the club and shared on its social media handles, the Super Lig champions alleged that Mourinho has attacked the team racially.

They also added that criminal proceedings have been initiated against the Fenerbache boss to seek Justice for the alleged verbal attack.

Excerpts from the club statement reads;

“Since the commencement of his managerial duties in Türkiye, Fenerbahçe manager Jose Mourinho has persistently issued derogatory statements directed towards the Turkish people. Today, his discourse has escalated beyond merely immoral comments into unequivocally inhumane rhetoric.

“We hereby formally declare our intention to initiate criminal proceedings concerning the racist statements made by Jose Mourinho, and shall accordingly submit official complaints to UEFA and FIFA.

“Furthermore, we shall diligently observe the stance adopted by Fenerbahçe—an institution professing to uphold “exemplary moral values”—in response to the reprehensible conduct exhibited by their manager.”

At the time of filing this report, Fenerbache and Jose Mourinho have yet to respond to the allegations.

Meanwhile, football fans are split on whether Jose Mourinho actually aimed racist attack on Galatasaray players or was just using a figurative expression.
