Real Madrid have stumbled yet again in the La Liga title race after settling for a draw against Osasuna at El Sadar on Saturday, MySportDab reports.
Los Blancos went into the game just a point clear at the top of the table and needed victory to veer off from Atletico Madrid in second place and Barcelona in third spot.
They started off strongly against the opponents. Their top forward Kylian Mbappe, who has been in a rollercoaster run of form, opened the scoring for the away side just 15 minutes into the game.
The goal saw the visitors went into the break with the lead as Osasuna failed to mount a response despite playing with a one-man advantage after Jude Bellingham was sent off in the 39th minute.
In the second half, Real Madrid continued on their dominant performance but struggled to extend the lead.
Osasuna committed more bodies to the defense while patiently watching out for a chance to catch out the visitors on counter attack.
In the 57th minute, they finally got their lifeline to peck back the visitors to a draw. Madrid conceded a cheap penalty and Budimir made no mistake, converting it with aplomb to tie the scores.
Real Madrid did little to mount a response after the goal as Osasuna leverage their numerical advantage late in the proceedings to dominate the game.
It finally ended with Real Madrid settling for a draw and missing a chance to extend the lead at the top the table.
However, they still stay top of the table after Atletico Madrid settled for a 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo as well.
Meanwhile, Barcelona will go top of the standings for the first time in weeks should they edge out Rayo Vallecano on Monday.
