“We Lost, But…”Pep Guardiola REACTS to Defeat vs Liverpool

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reacted to the team’s defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League, MySportDab reports.

Manchester City recorded their eighth Premier League defeat this season, setting for a shock 2-0 home loss to the Reds at Etihad.

Two first-half goals by Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai were all the Reds needed to put the defending champions to the sword.

Reacting to the loss, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola insisted his team had a great game against the league leaders.

According to him, the performance of his players was faultless and impressive. Specifically, he harped on the pace, rhythm, and pressing, lauding them for a great performance.

“We lost but the performance was really good today. Really good. I recognize my team”.

“The pace, the rhythm, the pressing, the solidarity from most of them playing in difficult positions. I approve it, and it was really good…,” he said (via Fabrizio Romano)

Manchester City are now fourth on the Premier League table with 44 points following the defeat.

They are tied on the same points with fifth-placed Newcastle United but boast a superior goal difference of +5 over the Magpies.

Also, the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool has thrown the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League widely open with Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Aston Villa all snapping at the heels of the defending Champions for a place in Champions League next season.

Bournemouth and Chelsea have 43 points each, one point below, Newcastle United and Manchester City while Aston Villa have 42 points.

Meanwhile, Liverpool opened an 11-point gap at the top of the table following the win and will hope to continue on winning ways when they host Newcastle United in midweek Premier League clash on Wednesday.
