Ruben Amorim Explains Marcus Rashford Saga

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has explained his fallout with the club’s loanee to Aston Villa Marcus Rashford, MySportDab reports.

After an initially promising start under the watch of the Portuguese tactician, Rashford fell off the pecking order drastically and was dropped in United’s rollercoaster away fixture against cross-city rivals Manchester City in the Premier League.

Since then, he has been dropped 12 times in Man United matches with his last appearance being in Europa League clash against Viktoria Pizen in December.

The crux of Amorim’s fallout with Rashford is said to be the player’s attitude in training and struggle to live up the benchmarks set by the new boss.

Now, explaining it further when grilled on the saga in his lastest press conference ahead of United’s Premier League match at the weekend, Amorim doubled down on his take that the player didn’t meet up to expectations.

“I couldn’t put Marcus Rashford to see the way you’re supposed to play football and to train the way I see it,” he said as Fabrizio Romano quotes.

Speaking on the player’s move to Aston Villa, he added that he wish him the best at his new club as he is still a good player.

“I just wish the best to Rashford and Unai Emery, and they can connect because he’s a very good player.”

Rashford ended his 10-year senior career with Manchester United after being frustrated out of the squad by Amorim due to the saga.

He has signed a short-term loan deal with Villa till the end of the season. It is understood the loan deal also involves a buyout clause of €40million for a potential three-year contract if he impresses on the shift.
