Leicester City manager Ruud Van Nistelroy fumed at the decision to award a controversial winner to Manchester United in a heated FA Cup clash on Friday, MySportDab reports.
United came from behind to grab a 2-1 win over the Foxes.
Bobby De Cordova-Reid scored early in the first half to give Leicester the lead before two goals by Joshua Zirkzee and Harry Maguire cancelled out the lead and handed United a win.
However, the second goal which happened to be a late winner was controversial.
Positioning to receive a cross from teammate and captain Bruno Fernandes, Maguire seemed to be clearly offside before he headed in the ball to secure a late victory for the Red Devils.
Reacting to the goal, Leicester boss and Man United legend Ruud Van Nistelroy made a sarcastic and metaphorical reference to the goal, insisting it was wrongly allowed to stand.
‘’We are not defeated in Fergie time, we are defeated in offside time,’ a ticked off Van Nistelrooy said.
‘’The game was decided on a mistake, it’s clear. This wasn’t necessary,” he said during post-match interview,” he added.
Notably, clips of Maguire’s position during his goal clearly showed he was offside when he headed in the ball.
The glaring and costly human error saw Leicester City come out on the wrong side, agonizingly crashing out of the competition.
Meanwhile, MySportDab understands VAR was not used in the match as it will only deployed in the fifth round of the FA Cup and going forward.
Even Man United legends like Gary Neville weren’t impressed with United’s showing against the Foxes right from the first half.
Neville insists Ruben Amorim has to do more to get United back on track.
It took a human error for the hastily assembled squad to steal their way through to the next round of the competition.
