Vinicius Jr has rejected Real Madrid’s new contract proposal, MySportDab reports.
The top-rated Brazilian forward has been reportedly offered a new deal by the La Liga and European giants as they hope to continue building the squad around him.
However, in what could be seen as a shocking move, he has turned down the new proposal.
According to Spanish journalist @MarioCartogena, Real Madrid opened talks with the player’s camp recently only to be met with outright rejection.
Close sources reveal the player turned down the proposal due as it fell off his pecking and demands. Following the rejection, Real Madrid are now expected to table another improved offer.
Vinicius Jr’s current terms with Los Blancos was agreed and signed in 2022 but announced a year later in 2023.
The deal saw the player commit to a new five-year contract with the European giants till 2027. With two years left on the contract, Los Blancos have deemed it necessary to sped up talks for renewal.
While the rejection will set the stage for second phase of the talks, it has already ignited speculations on the player’s possible exit from the Bernabeu.
The 24-year-old has been a top transfer target for Saudi clubs who are ready to roll out the funds for summer raid on the Los Blancos ranks.
According to reports, Al-Hilal are hopeful of signing the player and are ready to splash as much as €300million to process the transfer.
Rodrygo is another top target for Saudi clubs. While the Brazilian forwards have not gesticulated towards a move to the oil-rich state, the outcome of contract renewal talks will definitely alter the transfer dynamics and narrative surrounding the duo’s Real Madrid future.
