The match grew even more dramatic in the second half when, just 39 seconds after the restart, Tijjani Reijnders put the Netherlands ahead with a low, precise shot following a quick move on the flank.

The balance of the match shifted further in favor of Spain when the Dutch side were reduced to 10 men in the 81st minute.

Jorrel Hato was sent off for a reckless challenge, a decision that would prove costly as it left the Netherlands with an uphill task in defense.

Facing a numerical disadvantage, Spain continued to press, and their persistence was rewarded in stoppage time.

A goal through substitute Mikel Merino who calmly tapped home an equalizer in the 90+3 minute, salvaging a vital point for La Roja.
