Hansi Flick Confirms Barcelona Injury Boost Ahead of Benfica UCL Clash

Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick has confirmed the club has been handed a big injury boost ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash as Portuguese giants Benfica, MySportDab reports.

The Catalan giants, who are tipped among the favourites to win the competition with their stellar performances lately, will host Benfica for the second leg of the 2025 Champions League quarterfinal on Tuesday.

Despite playing with 10 men in the first leg, they eked out a big win in far away Portugal, thanks to Raphinha’s late solo goal.

Following the victory, they will head into the second leg with a double advantage given their aggregate lead and expected home support.

However, they were sweating with concerns over the fitness of their frontline forward Robert Lewandowski at the weekend. Lewandowski was left out of the team’s matchday squad for the postponed La Liga fixture against Osasuna.

Close sources reveal he had joined up with the team in their hotel in the morning and was ready for the match before returning home due to tiredness and discomfort.

Meanwhile, it was understood Hansi Flick was set to fix a heavily rotated squad for the Osasuna match with Lewandowski out of the team.

The German tactician confirmed he didn’t want to take any risk by fielding the player. However, concern still lingered over his fitness for the Benfica clash.

Now, addressing such concerns, Flick, speaking ahead of the Benfica match, has confirmed Lewandowski is fit and ready for the match on Tuesday.

“Lewandowski is back and available to play tomorrow”.

“On Saturday, he felt something during the activation session, but now he’s fine.,” Fabrizio Romano quotes.

Barcelona won 1-0 in Portugal and will hope to build on the lead and edge out the Portuguese giants in the second leg.
