Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has replied his Real Madrid counterpart Carlo Ancelotti after a recent media row between the two, MySportDab reports.
As the race for the 2025 La Liga title narrows down to the two giants of the Spanish league, tensions have soared between the two clubs.
And their respective managers did little to nib such in the bud with the recent media row laying bare the frictions.
It all started when Hansi Flick played down Carlo Ancelotti’s comment that Barcelona may refuse to play matches that is not 72-hours gap or more.
This came after Los Blancos had to play Villarreal in La Liga three days after playing 120 minutes against Atletico Madrid.
When asked about Carlo Ancelotti’s disposition, Hansi Flick said, “We are Barca and not Real Madrid and we are proud of who we are.” Without reading meanings to the statement, it was obviously a subtle disapproval of Carlo Ancelotti’s comment.
Replying to the German boss, Carlo Ancelotti also fired back with an ironic statement, saying he agreed with Flick that Barcelona is not Real Madrid.
“I agree with what Hansi Flick said. Real Madrid are not Barcelona,” he said.
For many, Carlo Ancelotti just gave Barcelona and Hansi Flick a taste of his own medicine by metaphorically boasting of Real Madrid’s supremacy over Barcelona in the statement.
Now, Hansi Flick has insisted he never meant to disrespect Real Madrid and have immense regard for Carlo Ancelotti.
“I respect Real Madrid and Ancelotti. He’s one of the most successful coaches in the world”.
“The other day I just said that Barça and Madrid are different, and that’s a good thing. I never have negative thoughts about Madrid,” Fabrizio Romano quotes.
