Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed the club’s decision on the future of their two key players – Bernardo Silva and IIkay Gundogan, MySportDab reports.
Manchester City are expected to witness a major squad overhaul in years in the summer with some key players expected to call an end to their spell at Etihad.
Leading the list of names expected to be axed from the squad is first-choice goalkeeper Ederson who is now facing a stiff competition from Ortega.
Legendary midfielder and Belgium international Kevin De Bruyne is also set to leave in the summer and has been linked to a move to Saudi Arabia.
The futures of Bernardo Silva and IIkay Gundogan has also been thrown into doubt in the wake of reports of the imminent overhaul.
Now, Pep Guardiola has confirmed the position of the club on the duo’s contract. Speaking ahead of their FA Cup matchup against Plymouth this evening, Guardiola revealed both Bernardo Silva and IIkay Gundogan are expected to sign new contracts in the summer.
“We need Gündo, Bernardo… We will need players,” he replied when asked about the two players.
Bernardo Silva has one year and three months left on his Manchester City and has been linked to a possible transfer exit from the club in the summer.
IIkay Gundogan rejoined the club from Barcelona at the start of the current season, signing a one-year contract till the end of the season but with a 2026 option.
They duo have been key names in Guardiola’s Manchester City revolution and are expected to extend their stay and continue with the club, as confirmed by Spaniard.
However, close sources reveal new offers have yet to be made to the two players. This still leaves some air of uncertainty over the future of the duo at the club in the summer.
