Real Madrid have moved level on points with Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table following a 2-1 win over Rayo Vallecano today, MySportDab reports.
Los Blancos saw off the Catalan side to secure all three points and relaunch themselves into the title race.
Goals from Vinicius Jr and Kylian Mbappe were enough to secure victory but they had to staged a big fight in the second half to tame the visitors.
Notably, while Los Blancos dominated proceedings from the start, goal was hard to come by. However, the deadlock was finally broken in the 30th minute.
Kylian Mbappe scored his 27th goal of the season, firing the home side into the lead. Just four minutes after the opener, Vinicius Jr doubled it with a golazo to make it 2-0.
Going down by two goals in a flash, Rayo Vallecano stepped up their game and fought back strongly to get back into proceedings.
Just at the last touch of the game in the second half, they finally found a lifeline goal. Diaz netted in the 45+2nd minute to halve the deficit for the away side and keep the game within touching distance of a point. It ended with the 2-1 scoreline as the break.
At the restart, Real Madrid started in a brilliant note, dominating proceedings and looking set to re-extend the lead but could not break the deadlock.
Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano put up a more formidable showing in the second half, keeping the hosts in check and making series of counters to keep the visitors on their toes.
However, both sides failed to find the back of the net with Real Madrid running out with a deserved 2-1 win at the blast of the final whistle.
