Chelsea have signed fast-rising and prolific young Portuguese footballer Geovany Quenda from Sporting Lisbon, MySportDab reports.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have reached an agreement with the Primeira Liga club for the services of the 17-year-old.
Also, he has completed his Chelsea medical with all set for his move but he will join the club in summer 2026.
Quenda emerged through the ranks in Sporting Lisbon before his breakout 2023-24 season. Meanwhile, he has had spells with other youth teams in Portugal such as Damaiense and Benfica.
In the 2023-24 campaign, he managed nine league appearances for Sporting Lisbon, scoring two goals. This season, he has ramped up his league tally to 25, scoring one goal.
His most notable performance was with the Portugal U17 squad from 2023 to 2024, where he made 18 appearances, scoring six goals.
The impressive outing with the Portuguese youth side saw him earn promotion to the U21 where he has made two appearances.
On his style of play, Quenda can play both as a defender and a midfielder. He has been deployed as a right wing-back and also as an attacking midfielder on the right wing.
His most outstanding attribute is positioning, football intelligence and exceptional passing range.
He has also been noted for link-up play, attacking prowess and ability to defend. This sterling attributes made him a top target for top European clubs with Chelsea now beating the competition to land him.
Details of his contract with the Blues have yet to be revealed but he is likely to have agreed to a long-term deal with the London outfit.
