Carlo Ancelotti Breaks Silence on Sack Rumors Ahead of Arsenal UCL Clash

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has broken his silence on sack rumours ahead of the club’s 2024-25 UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Arsenal on Wednesday, MySportDab reports.

Los Blancos suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to the Gunners at the Emirates in the first leg, no thanks to Declan Rice’s insane free-kick heroics that led to two of the goals.

Ahead of the second leg in Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid are obviously under pressure to overturn the deficit and qualify for the last four of the competition.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti has been under pressure in the build-up to the match. According to Spanish outlets, the cracker will be a make-or-break tie for Ancelotti, as per his future with the club.

Now, addressing rumours of being sacked should Real Madrid fail to see off Arsenal and qualify for the Champions League semi-final, Ancelotti expressed his confidence that the match will not impact his future.

“The match will impact my future (at Real Madrid)? No, I don’t think so,” he said as quoted by Madrid Xtra.

Carlo Ancelotti has one year and a few months left on his Real Madrid contract. The Italian tactician penned down a new two-year deal last summer and will hope to continue in Los Blancos’ dugout until the expiration of the deal in 2026 summer.

However, his chances of doing so may likely be determined by the performance of the team this season. Notably, Real Madrid have struggled lately under his watch.

They are four points behind league leader Barcelona in the La Liga title race and must put four past Arsenal tomorrow in the Champions League to progress to the next round.

However, they are in contention for the Copa Del Rey trophy but will face one of their toughest opposition – Barcelona – for the coveted domestic silverware.

There are speculations Ancelotti has a very slim chance of continuing in the dugout as the club’s manager should Los Blancos bottle both the La Liga and UCL titles this season, irrespective of the outcome of the El-Clasico Copa Del Rey final tie.
