The breakthrough came in the 58th minute when Declan Rice scored his first-ever direct free-kick goal, delivering a powerful shot from 25 yards that beat goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Rice doubled the lead in the 70th minute with another stunning free-kick from a similar distance which made things between them 2-0.

His goal saw him join an elite group of players, including Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, who have scored two free-kicks in a single Champions League match.

The Gunners continued to dominate, and in the 75th minute, Mikel Merino added a third goal with a precise low shot, further increasing the Gunners advantage.

Madrid’s situation worsened when Eduardo Camavinga received a red card late in the game, ruling him out for the second leg.

The impressive performance gives Arsenal a significant advantage heading into the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Premier League side positioned themselves favorite for their first Champions League semi-final appearance in 16 years.
