Bayern Munich have been held to a 2-2 draw by Borussia Dortmund in a seething Bundesliga clash, MySportDab reports.
The Bavarians went into the game off the back of a shock home defeat to Inter Milan in the first leg of the 2024-25 Champions League quarter-final.
While leading the race to clinch the Bundesliga title this season, the Vincent Kompany’s side needed victory against the arch-domestic rivals to restore fans’ confidence.
Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund got roasted in mid-week against Barcelona in the Champions League and were looking to return to winning ways.
With the two sides hungry for all three points, the stage was set for a rollercoaster Bundesliga tie at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern started strongly, counting on home advantage to dominate proceedings and force the visitors into their half but it was still a dead end in the opposition’s half.
Borussia Dortmund pulled a solid defensive display, holding the Bundesliga giants at the back with a strong showing.
The first half ended goalless with both sides unable to break the deadlock. However, the drama was saved for the second 45.
Just three minutes into the restart, Borussia Dortmund took an unlikely lead through Beier, who scored in the 48th minute to give the away side the lead.
However, the lead was short-lived. Guerreiro scored five minutes after the hour mark to peg the visitors to a 1-1 draw.
Four minutes after Guerreiro’s equalizer, Serge Gnabry completed the comeback for the Bavarians, scoring from Stanisic’s assist to make it 2-1.
But it wasn’t over yet as Borussia Dortmund doubled up efforts in search of an equalizer after Gnabry’s goal.
15 minutes before regulation time, Anton got Dortmund level, scoring a stunner to make it 2-2 and that is how it ended, both sides sharing spoils in a four-goal thriller.
