Real Madrid have qualified for the 2025 Copa Del Rey final following an eight-goal thriller draw against Real Sociedad in the second leg, MySportDab reports.
It was a cracker as the two teams locked horns for a place in the final of the oldest club competition in Spain.
Real Madrid head into the match with a narrow advantage, having won the first leg 1-0 at the Reale Arena.
Following the narrow 1-0 away win in San Sebastian, Los Blancos were expected to count on their home advantage and stroll past Imanol Alguacil’s side at Santiago Bernabeu.
However, it turned out to be their most difficult game this season as the White and Blues nearly pulled what would have been an incredible upset.
They went into the lead in the 16th minute through 23-year-old Spanish forward Ander Barrenetxea but Endrick pegged them back to a 1-1 draw at the half hour.
Endrick’s goal saw both sides draw the first 45 with Real Madrid leading by a 2-1 aggregate.
In the second half, David Alaba mistakenly got the ball into his own net to restore Real Sociedad’s lead.
Eight minutes later, Mikel Oryazabal extended the lead for the away side. A 3-1 lead for Real Sociedad was a doom scoreline for Los Blancos as they risk crashing out of the competition with the loss margin.
However, it wasn’t over yet. Just two minutes after Oryazabal’s goal, Jude Bellingham came up clutch for Los Blancos, scoring to halve the deficit.
Four minutes after the goal, Aurelien Tchouameni scored Los Blancos’ third goal to peg the visitors to a 3-3 draw.
But the dramatic late rain of goals wasn’t over yet. In the 90+3rd minute, Oryazabal bagged his brace to restore Real Sociedad’s lead for the second time, dragging the game into extra time.
In extra time, it was Rudiger’s goal in the 115th minute that finally secured aggregate victory for Los Blancos for a place in the final.
