Fenerbache head coach Jose Mourinho attacked his Galatasaray counterpart Okan Buruk after losing Turkish Cup quarterfinals on Wednesday night, MySportDab reports.
The former Man United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, and Roma boss was seen in viral footage approaching Okan Buruk and scrapping the latter’s face with his fingers.
In footage that we have shared at the end of this post, Buruk, who was apparently making his way off the field with his staff, was then seen plunging to the ground in agony and grabbing his face.
Specifically, the ugly incident occured at the blast of the final whistle when both managers made their way to the match officials.
Galatasaray have issued a statement accusing the Fenerbache boss of ‘physically attacking’ their manager.
The incident has since sparked outrage with football fans blasting Jose Mourinho for his occasional x-rated blasts after matches.
However, Okan Buruk, has downplayed the incident insisting he has nothing against Mourinho despite the nasty encounter.
“He pinched my nose from behind. There was a slight scratch. Of course, it wasn’t a very nice or elegant thing to do. We expect managers to behave more appropriately in such situations. I won’t exaggerate this issue, but it wasn’t a classy move,” Buruk said.
It is the second time Jose Mourinho has been embroiled in a controversy in matches involving Galatasaray since he joined Fenerbache as manager.
During his earlier encounter with the Turkish champions, he was accused of making racist remarks on the opposition’s bench describing their appeals against a penalty decision as ‘monkey moves.’
There are suggestions the latest in incident may attract heavy penalty on the Portuguese boss with the Turkish FA expected to wade into the fallout soon.
Fenerbache lost the match 2-1 and crashed out of the competition following a brace from Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.
