It will be a rollercoaster as Ligue 1 champions PSG battle it out against Aston Villa in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg on Wednesday, MySportDab reports.

The Ligue 1 giants will head into this game as huge favourites to win. The Parisians are on an incredible run this season under Luis Enrique.

After a not-so-stellar run in the league phase of the competition, they edged out huge favourites Liverpool in round 16. A few weeks later, their 13th Ligue 1 title was in the bag with six games to spare.

And that was not all; they will battle for another domestic silverware in May in the Coup de France final. Can they add the UEFA Champions League title to this collection? They will have to edge out Aston Villa in the quarter-finals to stand a chance. Can they? Here is our preview of the match.

PSG will head into this match in sensational form. They knocked out Liverpool in the last-16 to reach this stage, thanks to Ousmane Dembele’s heroics.

Aston Villa breezed past Club Brugge in the last-16 to qualify for the round of 16, thanks to impressive wins in both legs of the tie.

PSG are on a six-match winning streak while Aston Villa are on an eight-match winning streak. Hence, they will put their impressive records on the line heading into the match.

Notably, this will be the first time the two teams will meet in a competitive fixture.

Team News & Prediction

Lee Kang-in is PSG’s only injured player who will miss the match. The team’s captain Marquinhos will be unavailable due to suspension in the Liverpool match.

Aston Villa’s only injury case is Ross Barkley. January acquisitions such as Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford are expected to lead the line with their experience as the Birmingham club battle it out with the Ligue 1 champions.

For our prediction, we expect a tough match likely to end in a draw. While Aston Villa are the less-fancy side to win, their league phase performance against Bayern Munich had knocked off doubts about their abilities to take on bigger opponents in the competition. However, taking down the Ligue 1 giants in their home ground in Paris is unlikely. We predict PSG to win or draw.
