Chelsea have confirmed an update on Nicolas Jackson injury situation, MySportDab reports.
Jackson picked up an injury during Chelsea’s 2-1 win over London neighbours West Ham United in the Premier League.
It was initially thought he could he would recover and continue his game before various reports claimed he may be out for over a month.
Now, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has cleared the air on the condition of the Senegalese star.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea’s weekend Premier League clash against Brighton, the Italian tactician revealed Jackson will be out for several weeks.
”He will be out for weeks,” he said.
Maresca’s update contrasts his earlier position on the injury before Chelsea got knocked out in the FA Cup fourth round by the Seagulls.
Speaking before the match, the former Leicester City boss dropped a positive update on the injury situation, saying the player may not be out for long.
However, the latest scans have shown the reverse with Jackson expected to tarry on the sidelines – a position he (Maresca) has attested to.
Jackson’s injury will be a big blow to the Blues who lack a proper striker to stand in for the Senegalese.
Jackson has nine goals plus five assists in 23 Premier League matches this season and one in five EFL Cup games.
He has been an integral part of the Blues squad under Maresca and will hope to return to his game soon from the layoff. His estimated return timeline is after the Match’s international break.
