Nigeria international Moses Simon has been shortlisted for the 2025 Marc-Vivien Foé Prize, awarded to the best African player in France’s Ligue 1, MySportDab Reports.

The FC Nantes forward has been instrumental for his club this season, registering 15 goal involvements in 25 league matches. His versatility across the attacking front has made him one of the most consistent African performers in the French top flight.

On the international stage, Simon has also been a key figure for the Super Eagles, featuring in all their matches this season and providing three assists. His contributions have further solidified his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most reliable players.

Simon faces tough competition for the award, with Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi emerging as the favourite. The PSG defender has played a vital role in his team’s push for a fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title.

The Marc-Vivien Foé Prize was established in 2011 in memory of the late Cameroonian midfielder, who tragically passed away on the pitch in 2003.

Notable Nigerian winners include Vincent Enyeama and Victor Osimhen, both of whom claimed the award while playing for Lille.

Simon will be aiming to join this elite list and bring the prestigious accolade back to Nigeria. The winner will succeed last year’s recipient, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who claimed the honour while playing for Olympique de Marseille.
