Chelsea have boosted their chance of qualifying for the Champions League next with a dramatic comeback win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, MySportDab reports.
The Blues went into the game four points adrift of Manchester City in the fourth place and needed a win to stay in contention in the race for Europe.
Meanwhile, Fulham needed victory as well to boost their slender hopes of qualifying for Europe as well. Hence, the stage was set for a cracker matchup between the two sides.
Proceedings kicked off on a frantic note with both sides looking to take an early and it was Fulham who won the early duel.
Nigerian attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi opened the scoring for the Cottagers in the 20th minute, thanks to a brilliant assist by Ryan Sessegnon.
Notably, Alex Iwobi’s goal was enough to secure a first-half win for the home side but Chelsea would stage an impressive comeback in the second half.
The Blues dominated the remaining 45 right from the start and were looking set to find the equalizer but left it late before finally breaking the deadlock.
Fast-rising 19-year-old winger Tyrique George scored the first goal and equalizer for the Blues seven minutes before regulation.
With the scores tied at 1-1, proceedings looked set to end in a draw as both sides crossed the regulation time without a goal again.
However, just at the last touch of the game in the 93rd minute, Pedro Neto won it for the Blues, scoring a stunner from Enzo Fernandez’s assist to make it 2-1.
The win has seen the team climb up to 5th in the table with 57 points – the same points as sixth-placed and seventh-placed Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, respectively, with Nottingham Forest having a game in hand.
