Arda Guler has once again proven his quality and unmatched brilliance in Real Madrid’s La Liga clash against Getafe, MySportDab reports.
The Turkish youngster, who has been rotting on the bench under Carlo Ancelotti, demonstrated his class as he led Real Madrid to a crucial La Liga win over Getafe.
His 21st-minute thunderbolt made all the difference as Real Madrid secured all three points in the match to close the gap on league leaders Barcelona.
Los Blancos started the game dominating proceedings but struggled to find the back of the net.
A slew of chances was also missed after they split open the hosts’ defence with speedy counterattacks.
However, it was evident a draw would be an unjust result for Real Madrid, who showed more hunger to secure all three points.
The big moment came in the 21st minute with the goal coming from one of the most unlikely of the players.
Guler had the ball far off the penalty area and no one would have expected the youngster to dare a shot from the distance but he did.
Left unmaarked from almost 30 yards, he crashed a thunderbolt past Getafe goalkeeper to give Real Madrid the lead.
Getafe committed more bodies forward after conceding but it was still a deadlock for the home side in Real Madrid’s half.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos continued to dominate proceedings and were pushing to double the lead. Vinicius Jr had a slew of convertible chances that would count but miss them.
The first half ended with the defending champions leading at the break, thanks to Arda Guler’s thunderbolt goal.
The second half was no different from the first. Real Madrid still dominated proceedings but the second goal was hard to come by.
Getafe committed to the low blocks while hoping to catch the away side on counterattacks but were effectively tamed.
The match finally ended with Carlo Ancelotti’s side winning 1-0 to close the gap on Barcelona to four points.
