Italian Serie A giants Juventus have confirmed defender Daniele Rugani has tested positive for the deadly CoronaVirus, MySportDab reports.
Italy is now the worst-affected county in Europe with the Serie A suspended until April 3.
Both Juventus and Inter Milan players are all in quarantine after it was confirmed defender Daniele Rugani has tested positive for the coronavirus.
The two clubs played against each other on Sunday, and it is unclear how long they will need to be quarantined for.
Juventus defender Rugani was a substitute for Sunday’s match, which the Turin club won 2-0.
The Match was played in an empty stadium, as fans were banned as a medical precaution.
Sports activities in italy was suspended until April 3 as part of the countrywide lockdown to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
But now, Daniel Rugani is the professional player to have tested positive, with Juve confirming on Wednesday night that the 25-year-old has the virus.
Juventus’ Champions League match against Lyon next week will now be likely to be postponed.
After Sunday’s win over Inter, Rugani posted a picture from the team dressing room of him and his fellow team-mates celebrating the win.
MySportDab understands that there is still no further confirmation for now of other players have tested positive, but Juventus have now released a statement.
In its statement, Juventus confirmed the player has no symptoms.
“Footballer Daniele Rugani has tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19 and is now asymptomatic,” the statement said.
“Juventus Football Club is currently taking all the isolation procedures required by law, including the quarantine of those who have had contact with him.”
