Chelsea Manager Frank Lampard has confirmed his 25-man squad for the UEFA Champions League group stage, MySportDab reports.
The transfer window across Europe has now closed after Monday’s October 5th deadline.
The Blues were the biggest spenders in the Premier League this summer, with confirmed arrivals Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Edouard Mendy.
All new signings are expected to play a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League hopes and are included in the squad for the group stages.
The Champions League squad is split up into two ‘lists’ of players with List A “a total of 25 players with a minimum of eight local players, four must be from the club’s academy between the ages of 15 and 21”.
List B consists “of players 21 years old or younger with at least two years’ stay at the club”.
There is no big surprise in the players Frank Lampard has selected for his Champions League squad.
While Chelsea have reduced their squad size during the transfer window by sending out many players on loan.
But, there are a few players with their futures undecided.
Danny Drinkwater and Victor Moses were heavily linked with an exit from Chelsea because neither are in Frank Lampard’s plans for the current season and have now missed out from the Champions League squad.
Since his move from Leicester City in 2017, Drinkwater has failed to impress at Chelsea.
Victor Moses is also in a similar situation, despite being strong interest from Inter Milan.
The 29-year-old has been a Chelsea player since 2012 but he’s spent most of that time on loan.
