Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil is now more likely to join Turkish club Fenerbahce after his secret meeting with the club in London, MySportDab reports.

The midfielder has not played for Arsenal since his last match in March 2020.

Coach Mikel Arteta decided to not include him in Arsenal’s Premier League and Europa League squads.

The Gunners are desperate to get rid of his £350,000-per-week salary.

According to German Newspaper Bild, The 32-year-old already started talks with Fenerbahce  in London.

Ozil’s transfer is only possible in the summer when his contract expires, than this January.

MySportDab understands that Ozil must accept a £200,000-per-week wage cut to sign for the club.

However, in December, one of Fenerbahce’s board members, Murat Zorlu, said there is a high possibility they would sign Ozil in January.

He said: ‘A source, who’s connected to the club has told me that Mesut Ozil could become a Fenerbahce player in the next transfer window.

‘I can there is a 90 per cent chance he will join us next month.’

Turkish newspaper Fotomac claims that Ozil has already met with Fenerbahce’s sporting director Damien Comolli.

Ozil is from Turkey, and is a good friend of the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was his best man at his wedding.

The midfielder has spoken openly about his Arsenal during the club’s difficult situation.

The Gunners are now 15th on the Premier League table and four points ahead of the relegation zone.

They are now out of the Carabao Cup after a 4-1 loss against Manchester City on Tuesday.
